Artist in Residence Program

Artists in residence are provided with accommodation (standard or duplex), laundry service, three meals per day, studio space (shared or private), inclusion in the fellowship exhibition (if the residency coincides with the exhibition dates). The program fee is US$ 30 per day for a standard room with shared studio / work space and US $ 40 for a duplex room with private studio for a stay of 90 days. For 45 days, the program fee is US$ 35 and US$ 45 for a standard and duplex room respectively. All artists in residence are asked to donate seven hours of community work per week (cooking, researching, organizing, leadership of a workshop, assisting or teaching a class, promotion, event planning). Partners of artists are invited to stay for US $ 15 per day. (Includes accommodation, meals and laundry). see residency terms and conditions.

Benefits: - Furnished Standard or Duplex accommodation (includes bed, mattress, sheets, quilt, pillows, lamps, table, chair, private western-style bathroom with shower and a closet).
- Three meals per day.
- Laundry service (three times per week).
- Daily room cleaning and replacement of sheets every alternate day.
- Private studio space.
- Exhibition opportunity (if residency dates occur during a fellowship exhibition).
- Opportunity to participate in evening cultural activities, performances and parties.


Requirements: - Seven hours of communal work per week (cooking, researching, organizing, leadership of a workshop, assisting or teaching a class, promotion, event planning).
- Unconditional donation of one piece of artwork (or acceptable replacement) to the Village.
- Mention of the Village in any documentation, publication or presentation of work produced during the residency.
- Submission of program evaluation at the conclusion of the residency.

Other information: I- Pickup from the Airport can be arranged for US$ 10.
- Internet access is provided at US$ 18 for 90 days, US$ 14 for 60 days, US$ 11 for 45 days and US$ 8 for 30 days.
- Local phone call charge: Rs 5 per 3 minutes segment.
- Heaters can be provided at a cost of US$ 2 per day.
- Toilet paper, mosquito plugs, candles, towels and other basic goods available for purchase .
- Suggested sources for materials and local transportation information.
- The Village van will often provide transportation to evening activities at a minimal cost.
- Partners of artists in residents may share accommodation for a cost of US $15 per day; they will receive meals and laundry service.
- US$ 6 for each meal will be charged for every guest invited by the artist.
- All deposits are non-refundable.
- The participants will cover all banking charges for the remittance.
- The Village has the right to terminate the residency period, if this is the case, 30% of the program fee for the remaining days will be refunded.
